In Zav and Mayuri’s East village and Brooklyn City Hall Elopement, a true gratitude and admiration for one another was evident from the moment I met them in the East Village.

How did they have both an East Village and Brooklyn City Hall Elopement?
These two chose to begin their day where their story began—visiting their favorite pizza shop, toasting at the very bar where they had their first date, and pausing on the bench where they shared that unforgettable first kiss (although they did debate which bench in Tompkins Square Park-- they had two very different opinions). These two have a real life chemistry that you don't see often in couples-- the kind of real love where I didn't even really need to prompt them to love on one another. We even made time at the very beginning to photograph them with their very best friends and family, all of whom would be meeting them later in the day for a pizza dinner.

After our East Village jaunt, we hopped into an Uber and headed to Brooklyn City Hall for their quick ceremony.
One of my favorite frames from the day is them side‑by‑side in the waiting room, nerves and smiles mixing as they waited to sign their paperwork—a beautifully honest moment that felt like it belonged in a movie.

With official vows complete, we made our way through Brooklyn Heights to the Promenade. Half‑way there, Mayuri slipped into her cute tennis shoes—comfort and style perfectly united for more strolling and snuggling. Zav and Mayuri were so in love, their enthusiasm and affection created their own cinematic moments.

It’s been one year since their elopement—congratulations, you two! Their day proves that the perfect New York City wedding doesn’t have to be over‑the‑top or expensive. Take some portraits in your favorite spots, get married at city hall, then party it up with some friends over great cocktails and good food. The togetherness is what mattered. The celebration of love is what mattered. The places they fell in love is what mattered.

I'm so grateful we got to photograph every moment of it.
