Trust me, there are more than three reasons you should Elope in NYC, but the few I’ve laid out below are my professional top three reasons! I’ve been photographing weddings and elopements for over ten years, but specifically in New York City for three years, and I’m continually astounded at how incredibly fun and cool a NYC wedding can be!
1. You don’t have to have a venue to get married here. The city is your venue (she's basically giving main character vibes) and there are so many iconic spots (Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, random side streets or piers, etc.) you can get married at for free! Save some money on a venue and get married out in the city (a city that has lots of great alternative options even if it’s raining). Then maybe spend money on a fancy dinner for you, your friends, and family.
2. New York City is the island destination wedding you didn’t know you needed. Whether you live here or you’re traveling here, it’s got a lot of romantic experiences and hotels that will make you feel like you’re both getting married and on vacation. You can stay in romantic hotels, eat at really tasty romantic restaurants tucked away on side streets or sitting up high in buildings. You can get amazing photos with buildings, bridges, and park nature. There are so many ways you can make your wedding an experience, not just an event.
3. One of the main reasons I’ve seen couples get married in New York, is because it’s a good meeting ground for their family and friends. Especially for international couples coming from different cultures or countries, who have fallen in love in the states. I’ve photographed so many weddings where both families were flying in from different countries to celebrate the wedding couple. In most cases, the wedding couple is not from NYC, but they found it to be a great central location for their families to meet and celebrate them. The best part is, you'll never run out of things to do, places to eat at, or sights to see :)
