New York Elopement Locations in Brooklyn:

1. Brooklyn Promenade

If you're looking for a romantic spot to exchange vows without a venue fee, the Promenade is magic. It offers epic skyline views, historic brownstone streets nearby, and a peaceful, local atmosphere.

It's perfect for small, casual ceremonies—just the couple, a few guests, and a beautiful view. I love that there's a Joe Coffee right nearby for couples to stop in and grab a pre-ceremony espresso. That quick coffee shop moment makes for some of my favorite low-key photo ops—walking out with your lattes, hand in hand, ready to get married.

It’s never completely empty, but it’s mostly locals, dog walkers, and joggers. It’s one of the more intimate feeling public spaces in the city.

2. DUMBO (The Quiet Side)

Let’s talk about a spot that feels like a movie set. The righthand side of the Manhattan Bridge in DUMBO has cobblestone streets, warehouse textures, and dramatic views of both the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges.

While DUMBO gets busy fast, if you’re open to an early morning ceremony, this spot delivers big on that iconic NYC look—without the crowds. The city wakes up around you as you say your vows, and the light hits everything just right.

It’s all public space, so you don’t need a permit if your group is small and you’re not setting up chairs or structures. It’s best for couples who want something chill, spontaneous, and very NYC. Rain or shine, this is an epic spot. One of my favorite sessions I've photographed in Dumbo was on a very foggy day, and the skyline was barely visible.

3. Brooklyn Bridge at Sunrise

Want to elope on one of the most famous structures in NYC? You can. The Brooklyn Bridge is public property, so if you're down to keep it simple and mobile (no big setups or blocking foot traffic), it's totally doable.

The trick is timing. I always recommend sunrise. It's quieter, cooler, and the city is still asleep. The sun rises on the Brooklyn side, so it gives the most beautiful backlight while the Manhattan skyline glows in the distance.

Quick note: The bridge is loud (traffic runs below), so it’s smart to bring a small speaker so your officiant can be heard.

This is a beautiful choice for couples who want a ceremony that’s more adventurous and spontaneous than polished and posed. It’s raw, romantic, and unforgettable.

4. Prospect Park + The Boathouse

If you’re drawn to nature over concrete, this is your Brooklyn elopement dream. Prospect Park gives you a huge variety of backdrops—lush trees, hidden footbridges, pavilions, lakeside views, and cherry blossoms in spring that feel downright magical.

The park itself is completely open and free to the public, which makes it perfect for low-key ceremonies with a couple guests or just your officiant. You can walk, pause, explore, and take photos that feel relaxed and romantic.

The Prospect Park Boathouse is stunning too—but just know it often hosts weddings and events. If you aren’t renting it, we might not be able to shoot directly in front of it, depending on what’s happening that day. That said, the surrounding area is beautiful even on its own.

This one’s perfect for couples who want something outdoorsy, floral, and naturally elegant.

🕐 A Quick Reality Check: Timing is Everything

All of these locations are in public areas—which is amazing for accessibility and affordability. But it also means you’ll be sharing the space with other New Yorkers. If you want privacy, magic light, and room to breathe, plan for early mornings.

After 9:00 AM, most of these locations get busy. (DUMBO and the Bridge especially fill up quickly.) If you’re the kind of couple that loves a sunrise adventure and doesn’t mind the outdoors, you’re going to love this.

Does this make you want to get married in Brooklyn?! If so, let's talk about what it could look like to 1) Get married in Brooklyn, and 2) Take couples wedding portraits in Brooklyn. I love to creatively help my couples plan their photo sessions and weddings so you get to enjoy moments together and get some amazing photos.
