Creative Branding Session with Super 8 Film | NYC Personal Branding Photography

In my experience, planning a branding session is, in all the best ways, a collaborative experience between you and I. We are getting to dream up really fun shots and ideas. We are getting to push boundaries. And, for most of my clients, we are getting outside the box of "typical branding photos" and pushing for something a bit extra. I LOVE delivering to clients a mix of professional photos and a mix of funky branding photos. Photos that will actually be fun to interact with and photos that will feel fun. Photos that might even make people want to work with you because the photos are just so so cool.

I'm literally going to give you the list of things Louisa wanted from her branding photos and then I'm going to show you what we got-- and you can tell me-- did we nail it?

To give you some context, Louisa is an Actor, dancer, singer, model, and creative being.

This branding session was a collaboration of photography and Super 8 videography with Sam from Sam Pedroza Films. I think every branding session should have a Super 8 film now! It's so so cool. I'm happy to let you all know, Sam is officially on my team and we've got weddings and branding sessions lined up for 2026. I can't wait to see what cool art we create together!

This is the list Louisa sent us of themes, emotions, vibes, etc:

Themes / Ideas:

  • Joy and expression without hesitation

  • Be big and take up space, no more shrinking

  • Vibrancy

  • Candid feeling

  • Musicians love the people and the people love the music

  • Community, love, dancing

  • Women celebrating themselves more and living life

  • Freedom, singing, Silliness

  • Dancing in the streets

  • Interactions with buskers, laughter, coats

  • Playing music inspired shoot

• ⁃ New Orleans influenced music ex: California honey drops, sally baby silver dollars

To top it off, Sam and Louisa came up with specific things they wanted documented (this isn't a requirement when planning a branding session, but I find it makes the best use of time possible. Every time I have a branding session I plan specific photos and moments ahead of time, and work off of a list so we don't forget anything important):

Here's the specific shot list:

Shot List:

  • Balancing fruit on head

  • Playing guitar in Bethesda terrace

  • Dancing in the streets

  • Holding flowers against sky

  • Journal close up to face

  • Eating berries

  • Close up on feet dancing around the fountain

  • Polaroid shot

  • Laying on stairs with journal

  • Flower in hair playing guitar

  • Juggling fruit (I can’t actually juggle but I think me trying to would be silly and fun)

  • Aerial laying down shot with spinning motion

  • Shadows

• ⁃ Walking and balancing on a curb/bench/gate/parking block with arms outstretched and guitar in hand. (Idk why this is such a strong image to me, but it feels like an important journey shot for me!)

Are you ready to see our Creative Branding Session with Super 8 Film | NYC Personal Branding Photography results?! While I didn't photograph everything from Louisa's list (because Sam was getting specific things), I think we did a great job at giving her a mix of funky and fun photos. What do you think?
